Job Summary

The Safety Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health, safety, and compliance programs across all dental offices within the organization. This role ensures that workplace safety standards are met, regulatory requirements are followed, and employees are trained in safe practices. The Safety Engineer will work closely with dental practitioners, administrative staff, and management to minimize risks, prevent workplace hazards, and promote a culture of safety and well-being for both employees and patients.

Qualifications

BSC Engineering (Chemical, Environmental, Metallurgical) Preference will be given to Chemicals Engineer, BSc with Chemistry and any science related BS degree will be accepted.

Experience

A minimum of 05 years experience in Hazardous Chemical Handling, Hazardous Communication, Data maintaining concerning all safety documents, Directly or closely related field of Safety department.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for liaising with regulatory agencies as needed, ensuring compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, CDC guidelines, and state dental board regulations.
  • Ensuring proper safe measures when exposure to dental prosthesis components, electroplating chemicals, crystalline silica, nitrous oxide in dental operatory, beryllium, and other alloys occur.
  • Overseeing the safe handling and storage of chemicals, safely and efficiently managing biohazardous medical waste in the dental office, such as disinfectants, mercury, X-ray chemicals, sharps sterilant, amalgam, and other medical waste.
  • Staying updated about all relevant safety and health regulations at the federal, state, and local levels, and ensuring compliance with these regulations and submission of reports as required.
  • Liaising with suppliers to obtain compositional information to enable the authoring of a compliant SDS. Keeping up with the latest SDSs and staying informed of the constantly changing regulations, keeping SDS organized and easily accessible.
  • Creating and maintaining a written program that outlines how the organization complies with the Hazard Communication Standard, preparing procedures for labeling, maintaining safety data sheets (SDS), and employee training.
  • Responsible for the safety and well-being of both staff and patients in the dental office.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, CDC, and EPA regulations applicable.
  • Familiarize with Chem Dox, SDS manager, and Chemical Safety software’s for labeling and maintaining SDS.
  • Understanding dental equipment safety requirements. Knowledge of sterilization and disinfection protocols.
  • Highly skilled in Problem-solving abilities, analytical thinking, leadership and team collaboration.
  • Excellent communication and training skills; able to engage and educate dental office.
  • Safety / Risk Assessment certification will be added advantage.
