Periodontal and gum disorders are usually treated in a periodontal procedure. It is a detailed dental treatment in which a periodontist approaches the outer side of the teeth as well as the gum line removes all the tartar and plaque using scaling, and smoothes the tooth roots to protect further bacteria from sticking onto them. Other additional therapies may include surgical treatments for advanced periodontitis for receding gums. Overall oral care, protection of tooth loss, and better gum health are some of the goals of these procedures.

Surgical removal of excess gum tissue, for cosmetic or specific gum condition treatment.
